Our Olive Oil

HAND PICKED, COLD PRESSED OIL

All our oils have a unique rich and spicy flavour perfect for drizzling over salads, roast vegetables, or simply enjoyed with balsamic vinegar and crusty bread.

The oil’s high quality is a result of being carefully picked and processed on-site within 2 to 3 hours.  Environmental care is taken to ensure no pesticides are used and only natural applications on soils.  We have a bee apiary on the grove to promote pollination.

Please store this oil in cool and dark conditions to retain full flavour.

This year our olive harvest has been of outstanding quality with all of our varieties and blends awarded gold medals at the Australian International Olive Awards 2023. The gold medal awards were for:

Coratina

A single variety EVOO.

Tasting Notes
Intense green, floral and spice aromas. Great transfer to the palate with spicy sensation of pepper and cardamon aroma. Fresh lively mouthfeel. Clean and distinguished with presence of green almond and green pea. Well balanced and harmonious with a lingering freshly ground black pepper warmth.

Frantoio

A single variety EVOO.

 

Tasting Notes
Intense aromas of freshly milled olive, almond and anise with a nice note of poppy seeds. Open in mouth in a rich olive paste. Creamy delicious mouthfeel. Interesting dynamic between the bitter base, where a long white pepper spiciness stands out and the sweet fruit which slowly evolves. Full of flavour, complexity, and interest.

Lemon Agrumato

A single variety EVOO. This special Olive Oil is made with Grassy Spur lemons that are crushed with our olives as the last processing batch of the harvest.  This is truly an infused olive oil made in a limited quantity each year. This year the base olive varietal was our award winning Frantoio.

Tasting Notes
Clean fresh vibrant lemon notes with creamy lemon curd and just zested lemons. Transfers to an equally clean, vibrant palate with good strong zest elements, notes of green grass and capsicum notes from the base oil. Lovely full mouthfeel with balanced bitterness and pepper with a very long and persistent warm lemony length.

Picual

A single variety EVOO.

Tasting Notes
Great quality oil with particular aftertaste that makes it different. Intense fruitiness with fresh green banana, rocket, and flowers. Creamy and light mouthfeel. Green astringency balances well with the aromas and flavours. A special final aroma of bergamot or similar lifts the warm lingering finish.

Premium Blend

This EVOO is a balanced blend of a number of Mediteranean varieties, Frantoio, Leccino , Pendolino and Picual exclusive to Grassy Spur.  

Tasting Notes
Fresh aromas of apple, almond nuts, dried hay, and green vegetables. Great transfer with clear aromas and a sweet fruitiness. Creamy and light mouthfeel. Well balanced bitterness and pepper with a high degree of complexity. A lingering warm finish.

Established in 2005, our family run grove is situated in the green rolling hills of South Gipsland in Victoria, known for its clean air and excellent rainfall.
